ESPN pundit shares a laughable opinion about Jordan Love and Aaron Rodgers

  • NFL Packers American Football

The absence of sports is making us all go crazy. To some extent, then, it should be expected that talking heads on TV networks such as ESPN and Fox Sports would offer absurd takes in order to provoke reaction and pass the time.

But a Tuesday episode of ESPN's "Get Up" featured an opinion so bad it went beyond the typical daytime nonsense of recent weeks. NFL insider Dan Graziano told a panel he believes Love will win more Super Bowls in his career than Rodgers, who has one ring and could possibly get another before retirement. His colleagues laughed at the suggestion.

"All Jordan Love has to do is win two to make this prediction come true," Graziano said, not acknowledging the 夜网论坛fact just 12 quarterbacks in NFL history have claimed multiple championships.

ESPN's tweet graphic for the appearance accidentally tagged an Australian social justice nonprofit instead of its own show.

Graziano later explained his prediction as intentionally crazy because he had been asked for a bold take.

Dak Prescott's value to Cowboys will keep rising with every epic fail by Andy Dalton, Ezekiel Elliott

  • NFL 夜网论坛 Cowboys Cowboys v Cardinals American Football

The Cowboys' offense wasn't their problem during the 2020 NFL season until their Monday night meltdown against the Cardinals. The shock of Dallas' 38-10 home loss to Arizona isn't that its defense gave up so many points in defeat, but rather the total dysfunction in trying to move the ball and score enough points to be competitive.

While quarterback Dak Prescott is beginning his long recovery from the brutal season-ending right ankle injury he suffered in Week 5 against the Giants, he should have felt his long-term value to the Cowboys going up as both his replacement, Andy Dalton, and his backfield running mate, Ezekiel Elliott, were going down hard.

Andy Reid, Jon Gruden are the faces of the NFL's face mask follies in 2020

  • NFL Raiders v Chiefs Chiefs Raiders American Football

Face masks will always be synonymous with 2020 for all of us. For Andy Reid and Jon Gruden in particular, the memories won't necessarily be fond.

Reid made waves in Week 1 when his face shield kept fogging up. Gruden has been under fire multiple times for failure to adhere to the NFL's mask policies. Now, these two notable head coaches get to face off on national television in Week 11 when the Chiefs (8-1) travel to play the Raiders (6-3). By now, each Reid and Gruden have their normal face covering routine, but it seems like a good reason to revisit the struggles they had earlier this year.

The Chiefs played the Texans in the opening game of the 2020 NFL season on Thursday night in Week 1. Throughout the game, the camera spotted Reid, who opted for a face shield instead of a mask, barely able to see out of his transparent shield because of the way his breath was fogging it up.

Revisiting Tom Brady's first NFL start: 'Things could get interesting' after 2001 blowout of Peyton Manning, Colts

  • NFL American Football Patriots

Twenty years ago, the world got introduced to Tom Brady in earnest.

Then just a 24-year old sixth-round pick out of Michigan, it didn't take very long for Brady to get thrust into the national spotlight — a place he's stayed for the last two decades.

Brady was taken in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft and appeared in just one game during the 2000 season.

Three games into the following season, a very green and inexperienced Brady was called upon to start after then-Patriots starter Drew Bledsoe got knocked out of the Week 2 contest against the Jets on a hit from Mo Lewis.

From there, it was Brady's team and Brady's job to lose, even if his first start on paper didn't make it appear that way.

The Patriots routed the Colts 44-13 in Foxborough on Sept. 30, 2001, and though kicker Adam Vinatieri (three field goals) and running back Antowain Smith (94 yards and two rushing touchdowns), had impressive showings, Brady was fairly pedestrian.

He went just 13-for-23 with only夜网论坛 168 yards and was sacked once.

But his performance impressed some simply beyond the box score.

Nets retire Jason Kidd's No.5 jersey

  • NBA

Jason Kidd's Hall of Fame career spanned 21 seasons, but his best years, from 2001-02 to 2007-08, came as a member of the Nets.

He was honored for those prime years Thursday, as the Nets retired his jersey, raising the No. 5 to the rafters of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Kidd started out with the franchise when he was traded to the then-New Jersey Nets and immediately led the franchise to two straight NBA Finals appearances in the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons.

As former Nets president Rod Thorn pointed out, Kidd took a 26-win team and led夜网论坛 it to 52 wins the next year.

Kidd, always a pass-first player, said that he would take his teammates up with him when his jersey was raised.

Now the coach of the Nets, Kidd went right to work after his celebratory moment.

The Nets competed in a preseason game against the Miami Heat. They have two more games against the Heat and Boston Celtics before Kidd must serve a five-game suspension for pleading guilty to a DUI, circumstances that led the Nets to hold Kidd's ceremony in the preseason.

Nets' Deron Williams sure he'll return Tuesday; Pierce remains on fence

  • NBA

The Brooklyn Nets appear headed toward full health for the first time this season.

Point guard Deron Williams assured reporters that he will return from ankle injury on Tuesday when the Nets face the Boston Celtics on Tuesday (via ESPNNewYork).

Williams, who aggrivated his injured ankles in a game against the Charlotte Bobcats, has missed the past nine games.

His eagerness to return came out upon being asked if he would be back on the court. He was quick to answer with the good news.

On the flip side, Paul Pierce, expected to miss 2-4 weeks, is on the cusp of coming back from a broken hand. He remains on the fence about an exact date for his basketball return.

As pointed out by ESPNNewYork.com, the Nets starters have played a total of 78 minutes together, which is one big explanation for their struggles thus far. Their starters are finally getting healthy with Brook Lopez back on the court and Williams set to return, but the bench is still struggling. Andrei Kirilenko and Jason Terry have yet to return to practice.

Lakers star Kobe Bryant's return is not in the 'near future'

  • NBA

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant has spent most of the season dealing with injury. He came back from a torn Achilles, suffered a fracture in his left knee and is now back on the mend.

After coming back as quickly as possible from the origina夜网论坛l injury, Bryant is well aware that this is not something he can rush. Based on recent comments, Bryant sounds content to allow his body to determine when he returns.

"I don’t have much of a choice," Bryan said, according to the team. "A fracture, either it heals or it doesn’t. I don’t have much of a choice unfortunately."

While there was the flashy video to announce his Dec. 8 return to basketball in a Lakers meeting with the Toronto Raptors, there is no timeline this time out. In fact, Bryant said he won't be back at any time in the near future.

In the meantime, he has a routine that includes plenty bike work and movement to keep his injured leg strong. On the flip side, as he remains in shape, Bryant has received more time to allow his Achilles to heal.

"I’m focusing on staying in shape," Bryant said. "That’s really the big thing. You want to keep yourself active. You don’t want to be ready to go and now you have to start from scratch in terms of your conditioning, wait and things like that."

Bryant will have a return at some point in this season, as he has established, the Lakers guard isn't rushing it. When he does return, however, he expects to be fully prepared.
