Ryan Shazier danced at his wedding Friday, nearly 18 months after suffering a horrific injury that left many wondering whether the Steelers linebacker would ever be able to walk again.

Shazier walked Michelle Rodriguez down the aisle as the two were married in Pittsburgh. Then after the wedding ceremony, Shazier danced alongside his wife, family and friends.

Shazier's life changed when he made a tackle on Bengals wide receiver Josh Malone on Dec. 4, 2017. He was taken off the field at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati and was unable to move his lower extremities. He suffered a spinal contusion and underwent spinal stabilization surgery. He didn't regain movement in his legs until the following February.

Shazier, 26, has since made significant strides in his rehabilitation. He has been seen jogging and even lifting weights in videos on social media, and he maintains he will play football again one day.

The Steelers announced last month that they have placed the four-year veteran on the reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP) list for the second straight season. Pittsburgh will pay Shazier for the upcoming season, and he will keep his regular medical insurance. He will also continue to accrue service time in the league's pension program by being on the PUP list.
